Ingredients
1 1/2 cups steel-cut oats
4 cups water
1 tsp ground cinnamon
1/4 tsp ground cardamom
1/4 tsp ground nutmeg
1/4 tsp ground ginger
2 honey crisp or pink lady apples, chopped
Optional toppings: 1/4 cup fresh berries or banana slices, 1 Tbsp peanut butter, hemp hearts or chia seeds, or 1/4 cup unsalted nuts
Directions
Place all of the ingredients except the toppings in the bottom of a 4-to-6-quart slow cooker and stir to combine.
Cover and cook on low for 7-8 hours or on high for 4 hours, until the oats are soft but chewy. Remove the cover and stir together.
Serve with toppings of your choice. Enjoy.
